SKU: ESPSV3 Category:

Description

The ESPixelStick V3 is a WiFi Pixel and DMX single output controller built around the ESP8266 platform. It utilizes industry standard E1.31 sACN and DDP protocols for control of up to 680 WS2811 pixels (4 Universes) or 63 GECE Pixels. It also supports DMX512 devices with a built-in RS485 transceiver for driving DMX differential pairs. The ESPixelStick V3 can be powered with 5V-24V, depending on the pixels you are connecting. Just use the same voltage that your pixels use, no configuration is required for changing voltage. The controller is small enough to fit inside 1.25″ PVC, allowing you to embed the controller next to your element eliminating issues of long pixel runs. Programming the ESPixelStick only requires a Micro-USB cable and the ESPixelStick firmware, which is open source and available on GitHub. Instructions on programming and setting up the ESPixelStick are available here.

This is not a review but I had no other way to reach out to you. We need eight(8) of your ESPixelStick V3. Is there any chance there will be some that come available in the next four weeks? We will happily right a review. My email is John.Purnell@TheColonialPlayers.org.

I’m expecting to have more stock by Nov 17th, I’ll send you an email as well.
      thanks,

Using 10 of these for wireless DMX control of LED strips on battery powered stage props for a touring show. They work very well and are very stable. We put 2 sticks per universe controlling 138 RGB pixels (total 414 pixels) but we double them up using the settings in the PixelStick to control pixels in pairs so we can fit 2 sticks in 414 DMX channels.
We also love that when there is a problem, like a power glitch or under-volt situation, the PixelStick simply resets, reconnects and picks up again with no intervention. The small size makes them easy to hide in small props.
We abuse them and never have we had one die. I have spares but have never had to pull one out to replace a failed unit. They are very high quality and very flexible. The web-based settings mean we can bury them in a pro and never have to access them again. Connect by IP address when we need to adjust settings.
I highly recommend the PixelStick V3.

These are awesome. They are exactly what I needed to run a small display for my church & school. And easy enough to pair with Vixen that we are doing some elective studies for 6th-8th graders to make their own displays as well! I actually initially began using Forkineye’s Arduino library to make my own devices, but once I saw how easy, reliable, and affordable these were, I jumped at the opportunity!

Usually when you take a product off of Amazon, the seller saves on fees etc. When selling them direct, those costs are eliminated which should not cause the item to go up in price and also charge the customer more for shipping.

    • Shelby Merrick

The reason the product isn’t currently on Amazon is because people were abusing the return policy, sending back used controllers as “no longer needed”. I’ll add Amazon stock after the season is over and the price will be the same as it currently is in my store. The increase of $3 in price and $1 in shipping is due to increased costs on my end. Just to be open and clear, my cost has went up $6 per controller since last March due to the chip shortage. I absorbed the increase last time I restocked and raised it only half of the increase this time. The increase in postage is due to USPS recently increasing their rates, and I still take a loss on shipping as each order costs me over $4 to ship. If you have any other concerns, I would be happy to address them.
      thank you,

These things just work…even after being underwater? I use 5 of these in my Christmas light show to run various strings of lights or props either at 24, 12 or 5 volts. They just work, period. They’re easy to set-up, small enough to easily hide, and very resilient. I had one in a plastic IP65 box but the box leaked. The unit clearly had some oxidation in areas. I dried it, cleaned it off with DeoxIT, and put it all back together and it’s running right now. My next trick is to use a solar charging 5v power bank and an ESPixelstick to make a totally wireless prop. Thank you, Shelby!

Great hardware. I’ve used these for over a year, both inside and outside (in PVC pipe). The ability to use the same controller for 5V, 12V, and 24V lights is outstanding. The connector enables hooking this up in many ways, whether feeding the pixels “through” the board’s fuse, or pulling voltage off existing pixel power lines.

I’ve tried creating my own boards … the amount of work Shelby put into this product is not reflected by the extremely low amount that he charges.

If only there was an ESP32 version….

When do you expect more stock so that I can order a bunch of them?

    • Shelby Merrick

We should have more units in stock early March.
      thanks!

  8. Toffer

These are incredible!! Any chance you’ll have more in stock soon?? I’d love to have some more for an upcoming show in March!

    • Shelby Merrick

Thanks! Unfortunately, we won’t have more in stock until early March.

I have been using Forkineye ESPixelStick for some time now and they have been the cornerstone of most of my LED projects. With ESPixelStick V3 coupled with the developing v4 firmware, these little guys are an ease and a breeze to work with.

This pixel stick is everything I’ve ever needed and or wanted in a device!
I’ve been looking for a device to make my LOR controllers wireless for some time now. A guy used to sell ones that only worked on the G3 LOR controllers but this device works on ALL LOR ac controllers and the flood light controllers! I’m very happy with this product! Thank you so much Shelby!

Also for some reason it will only let me leave 4 stars.. However I tried to put 5 lol

The ESPixelSticks are the bomb! I think that they are the best thing since sliced bread! I also love the firmware and I am happy paying this price to support Mr. Merrick’s project. I also work in the manufacturing world and the price of components has gone through the roof, so I also understand that the price will go up more it’s just a matter of time. Keep up the great work.

I’m another happy customer. I’ve been replacing my homemade controllers with these, and I couldn’t be happier. Once you buy your processor, level converter to support multiple voltages, fuse, filtering and have some boards made, these are dirt cheap! It’s good to finally have something consistent in my Christmas display. Thanks!

  13. Rod zim

Are they available? Love this product brother

    • Shelby Merrick

Yep, in stock and shipping. Thanks!

I assume I can play this as a controller using FPP?

    • Shelby Merrick

You’ll need FPP on a Raspberry Pi or other device, but yes. This is a pixel controller that will take the data from FPP across the network and send it to your pixels to light them up.

Rock solid with my old Renard SS boards running serial. ESPixelstick web server works very well either from the my PC or iPhone. Running my AP radio at low power and no drops or re-connect issues that I’ve seen.

    A+

  16. Sean

These little controllers are simply amazing! I’m a newbie to all of the light show stuff, but am getting way into it. I found these and am blown away at how they integrate into the Falcon ecosystem. These make placements super easy. Already bought 5.

  17. Daniel

Hi! I’ve not purchased it yet but i have a question. Would this reciever work for non pixel fixtures, like just to control a dimmable led light bulb via dmx? The idea is to insert the wireless reciever along with a lithium battery inside of a bulb shaped light and control it from the console. And also, would it work with any generic 2,4Ghz dmx transmitter? Thanks!

    • Shelby Merrick

The output is capable of controlling WS281x based pixels and DMX521A devices. In order to control regular LEDs or bulbs, you would need a DMX or ws2811 based dimmer between the devices. The ESPixelStick connects to standard 802.11 2.4GHz WiFi access points.

  18. Mijanur Ali (verified owner)

Hi Shelby – I’m trying to install the firmware using a Macbook running on M1. I’ve been getting a Java library error when trying to run the ESPSFlashTool.jar file and it’s related to jSerialComm library and found this workaround: https://github.com/Fazecast/jSerialComm/issues/332. Would you recommend that I download the source code of your 3.2 Firmware and manually update that package and rebuild?

    • Shelby Merrick

The 4.x beta releases contain the updated serial library. I recommend using that instead.

  19. Brad (verified owner)

Ordered a few of these for some additional lights to compliment my higher end controllers and they work fantastic. Compact and easy to run.

When will you have more in stock? Have some inside project to run off these this year.

    • Shelby Merrick

I have more on the way and will be shipping orders out the first of next week. Thanks!
